Good things for today:
- Starting off the new year with going to church.
- Seeing Rebecca while I was out shopping with Mom. Man, I miss that girl!
- Coming home and watching more of The Office on Netflix. My goal is to watch all seven seasons before the end of January and I cancel my Netflix subscription.
- Eating homemade mac and cheese at dinner tonight!
- Reading the first "walk," a.k.a. devotional, in my Bible today.
The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the word for me! I stand alone on the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!
The start to the church service this morning was truly beautiful. It started off very simply with a group of all ages standing on the stage holding signs with various issues:
Single. Grieving. Busy. Pressured.
You get the idea.
Then, with the spotlight upon her, a small girl started singing a simple song.
The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the word for me! I stand alone in the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!
The spotlight expanded to include a group of children
The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the word for me! I stand alone in the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!
and continued to expand to include the teenagers and college group,
The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the word for me! I stand alone in the word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!
until finally everyone in the group had the light upon them.
Then they all flipped their signs over as the choir joined in. The signs showed that, through God, their singleness had been turned to purpose, the pressured had found relief, the forgotten had become loved.
It was a simple but beautiful way to show how God and his word changes our lives.
The first day in our Bibles covered the first two chapters of Genesis. I love reading about creation. I love just trying to visualize how awesome our God is, and how incredibly POWERFUL He is.
But the funny thing is,
I can't.
I can't visualize it.
Not truly, that is.
It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that in one day my God created light.
In one day He created and separated the sky and the oceans.
In one day he separated the oceans from the land and created vegetation.
In one day He made the Sun, Moon, and stars.
In one day He made the birds and the sea creatures.
In one day He made animals, and He made man and woman.
And then He took a little break!
In the expanse of a week, my God created an entire world. You want to know what I did this last week? I can tell you for sure that I ate, I definitely slept some, and oh! I ate more. I may have visited friends some, and yeah, I wasted hours of my life doing absolutely nothing on Facebook. Other than that, I don't think I did much.
And... NEWSFLASH!
It was good. It was perfect.
Did you catch that? P-E-R-F-E-C-T.
Abso-freaking-lutely PERFECT.
When was the last time you did something perfect? And I mean truly perfect. Like, there was nowhere to improve and nobody had any scruples or criticisms about it? Hmm?
Never?
I kind of thought that.
However, God made an absolutely perfect world in 6 days.
My mind is blown when I think about it. Think of all the complexities our world entails.
Wow.
Our God is truly awesome.
Now that I've got my amazement out, I'll leave you with a picture of the delicious mac and cheese for you to envy!

P.S. I will also leave you with a picture of Elliot Cowan's smoulder. Enjoy.
P.P.S. Have I told you yet that I'm a huge Pride and Prejudice / Jane Austen fan? NO?? Oh, well I am. :)
